[MP] x GIGI TORRES :: LA SHOOT FOR ESSENCE 2011
[MP] has teamed up with the amazingly talented choreographer & dancer Gigi Torres of Essence Ladies dance crew to shoot a series of dance videos for your viewing pleasure on MAHFIA.COM. Gigi has been killin it softly all around the world and is at the top of her game which meant our job was easy breezy. We are in awe of how Gigi and her dancers do what they do and we will be doing our best to show you just how amazing they are to watch. For this shoot we linked up with one of our favorite photographers Nico of Ricoy Photo. Nico kills it behind the lens and we were super grateful for his assistance on this shoot, thanks homie! BACK TO THE BAY PARTY :: @johnnyVARSITY ‘s 26th [feat. DJ HAVOC]
This was the house party of house parties! With a fridge stocked full of PBR / Red Bull / Vitamin Water and counter tops of exquisite Chef @Joolsie creations, there was no stopping the [M] train this night. With no last call and too much alcohol, all three bday boys [ @johnnyVARSITY / @Mahjestik / DJ B-FREE ] were off the leash and celebrated RIGHT!
B-Free and Mahjestik both took turns droppin’ the jammiez on a crowd consisting of close homiez, friends, and fambam. DJ HAVOC brought the white boy ghetto rave swag and slumped all of our favorite INDIE POP tunes — AND THEN SOME — with a real deal private set.
Good times.

Digging through the terabytes of footage from last week’s LA productions, we get to the main reason MP made its way up to Lala Land — DJ HAPA’s 30th Birthday. His celebration was two fold. First Hapa celebrated his birthday at The Bridge, a monthly congregation of DJs and industry cats at Rehab Records / Scratch LA. The following morning Hapa cut cake with family and friends atop Hotel Erwin in beautiful Venice Beach, CA.
Prior to the event @DJ4tify asked MP if we could set up a live-feed of the DJ’s POV for guests in the lounge area of The Bridge to watch. Using our resources and wit we threw up a GoPro Hero HD that streamed live — AWESOME!
The event was CRACKIN’! DJ Hapa threw down some damn-good jams. He was accompanied by live drummers as well as DJ talent that encapsulated the full spectrum of good music: @VER5E , @justMATTER , @DJshakee , @DJ4tify , @DJwarrior [to name a few]. MP was well taken care of and STOKED to be a part of something so dope.
This group of heavy hitters wasn’t new to partying RIGHT; which became apparent to MP the next morning, cause we we’re HURTIN’! Nonetheless we were resuscitated back to life by the warm glow of the Cali sun, mimosas, an omelet station, and a 360 view of Venice Beach from the rooftop of MP’s new favorite spot, Hotel Erwin. We toasted and cut cake in honor of Hapa hitting that big 3-0. It was an honor to meet his family and friends on that level. MP could not be more appreciative of the hospitality and professionalism provided by Hapa, 4tify, and crew. These people are homies and know how to run the game. MP hopes to follow suit. Respect.

[M]AHFIA [P]RODUCTIONS X @Fire_Poo
The day before MP shot the NINE ZERO ONE event we were mobbin’ all over LA shooting head-shots for @DJevilONE . Evilone knows how to put it down in front of the camera just as heavy as he puts it down on the 1s and 2s; plus he makes us crack up and sip on tequila when the lens-cap is on. He led us to @DJcheapshot ‘s monthly get-together of DJ talent — @Fire_Poo [google it].
MP got to grind on chicken wings and kick it with real-deal DJs runnin’ the game [@ZTRIP]. Included in the group we’re a few familiar faces from Camp Spin Off : @DJTinaT , @DJmorsecode , @DJserafin , @THEEmikeB , @DJenrie … It was great seeing these homies in their own element. Hopefully we can #comecorrect and make sure we get our dose of @Fire_Poo every time it goes down!! *tears*
